La Retorta from "Finca Pascualete," produced in the Extremadura pastureland, has been recognized as the best cheese in Spain at the 2017 World Cheese Awards, the most prestigious international competition in the sector. It was also ranked as the sixth best in the world. Its creamy, almost liquid texture, its persistent flavor on the palate and in the memory, and the slight bitter notes perceived when tasting it were some of the characteristics that the jury praised in La Retorta from Finca Pascualete, which was chosen as the best cheese in Spain.
